5.45pm: Hey, isn't that ...?
It's getting to the time of the afternoon when the rate of eliminations starts to increase, and the departure of Adelaide Casino satellite winner Allen Rye has brought Frank Agostino to table 10. The jovial local fruiterer is a keen poker player, and as you'll see from the evidence below, he bears a striking resemblance to a certain Team PokerStars Pro from the Central American region!
5.30pm: Four kings, just to rub it in
Nick Putt, son of New Zealand poker stalwart Graeme 'Kiwi G' Putt, has eliminated Adelaide's Pana Flourentzou in emphatic fashion. Flourentzou moved the last of his short stack into the middle with Q♥ Q♣, only to be snapped off by Putt who revealed K♠ K♣.
Flourentzou could only pray for a miracle but the poker gods layed their ethereal smackdown on him in a big way when the flop came down J♦ K♥ K♦. The turn and river of 3♣ 2♣ completed the board but "Pana" wasn't there to see it - he'd already walked out.
In the meantime, American Dan Smith has snatched the chip lead from fellow North American Mike Watson. Smith is on 80,000, but Watson is close behind on 75,000.
5.15pm: The Poker Star shining brightly
We've been rushing backwards and forwards between the media desk and table 10 (which is precisely one metre away), where PokerStars Sponsored Player and The Poker Star winner Amanda De Cesare has been involved in some big action once again, this time against Eddie Saade.
The money was all-in preflop; Saade had revealed K♠ K♦ but De Cesare had him dominated with A♥ A♦. The dealer spread the board of 3♦ 9♦ 2♠ 9♥ 5♦, improving neither hand. After the chips were cut down, Saade was found to be the shorter of the two stacks and was sent to the rail. Much to the delight of her biggest supporter Peter Aristidou, De Cesare is now up to around 36,500 in chips.
