PokerStars Festival Manila: ₱20 Million Guarantee Main Event and More

It's an action packed period for poker in Asia and the good folks at PokerStars LIVE Manila are putting the finishing touches for PokerStars Festival Manila which runs from July 28 to August 7.

If you haven't heard, PokerStars Festival Manila has replaced APPT Manila as the Philippines' annual big show.

Last year, Vietnam's all-time money leader, Linh Tran, won his first major Main Event title and took home ₱6,135,000 -- his best live cash to date.

Tran defeated a field of 577 runners and it's impressive numbers like that which have given organizers the confidence to place a ₱20 Million prize pool guarantee - the largest in Philippines poker history -- for the PokerStars Festival Manila Main Event.

If you're familiar with poker in the Philippines then you know that the Filipino community is an incredibly passionate and vocal group of individuals. They've supported PokerStars events in masses and so despite the poker festival's name change, we've retained the core of what made APPT such a great success in the past.

Let's take a look at some of the key events on the 11-day schedule below.

July 28-30: ₱15,000 PokerStars Open (₱4 Million Guarantee)

Previously known as the Warm-up event, this tournament drew of field of 665 last season and if you're looking to get your feet wet then this is a key event you don't want to miss.

It's also the perfect event for the Weekend Warrior who can't play weekday tournaments.

July 30-August 2: ₱25,000 PokerStars Super Deep

This PokerStars Festival event is for the player who wants a big chip stack (50,000 start bank) and slow blind level jumps. In some ways, it's the opposite of the PokerStars Open and targeting the more serious individual who wants a cash-game like feel.

August 2-3: ₱200,000 PokerStars Festival High Roller

PokerStars will be introducing the 30-second Shot Clock for the first time in the Philippines. High Roller events have been steadily increasing over the past two years with a 76% jump in participation last year - increasing from 33 to 58 runners between 2015 and 2016.

If that trend continues, this could very well push the 100-player mark this time around.

August 3-7: ₱55,000 Main Event (₱20 Million Guarantee)

While a vast majority of players directly buy-in to the Main Event, there's plenty of other ways to qualify into the big one. Live event satellites have a wide range of price points ranging from ₱500 to ₱10,000.

Whether you're a poker pro or casual enthusiast, there's no reason you can't be part of the first ever PokerStars Festival in Manila.
