EPT12 Barcelona: Enter the super high rollers

It's like we never left. The PokerStars Blog is now back deep in EPT territory. Actually it has been since Wednesday, when the Estrellas began to break records. But while Martin Harris has reported diligently from that ever growing Estrellas front line, today we welcome the Super High Rollers, who rumble in this afternoon to start their three day campaign for the first major trophy of the season.

For the most part everything looks the same, albeit with a few tweaks here and there. There are new chips; new tables (charge stuff till your heart's content) and a new look to the playing area. That's right; they'll be no need for the shoehorn this season, with the addition of a marquee, an extended playing area to help re-introduce the concept of personal space.

All this because Barcelona refuses to shake off the reputation as a great place to start the season. The jury is still out on why, and seems in no rush to come to a verdict. Maybe it's the sun (it's raining today), or maybe the city itself and its wealth of attractions. More likely it's that different kind of wealth, the one that will land in the lap of a handful of players over the next ten days as the spoils are dished out.

We'll be here every step of the way in the Super High Roller, which comes with a €50,000 entry fee and permits players as many do-overs as they please on day one. Then, as this event draws to a close, the Main Event will begin, wrapping up a week on Sunday. You'll miss nothing.

What's more EPT Live will be back on air from Day 2 of the Main Event (that's "Wednesday" to those operating on real world time), with live coverage through to the end next Sunday. Or "dawn on Monday" as we in the poker world call it.

So, let's begin.
