EPT12 Barcelona: Benjamin Pollak blitzes through tough €5K Turbo field

There were 71 events on the original EPT Barcelona festival schedule, the inaugural stop of Season 12. An extra -- in pot-limit razz (!) -- was added along the way to made 72, and alongside the Main Event and High Roller the final five side events played out.

Earlier in the evening Germany's Daniel Peche came away with the trophy and title in the €200 NL Saturday Night SuperStack (Event #66), overcoming a field of 312 to snatch the win and €11,800 first prize.

Spain's Martelli Armando took runner-up while Remi Wyrzykiewicz finished 11th.

As short while later the €5K NL 6-Max. Turbo (Event #69) came to a conclusion. At our last report that one had made the money, and after Rui Ferrera (10th), Patrick Uzan (ninth), Paul Newey (eighth), and Carlos Aoun (seventh) went out, the final table was reached.

Andrey Andreev (sixth), Mikita Badzikouski (fifth), and Glib Kovtunov (fourth) were the next out, followed by €25K High Roller champ Martin Finger in third.

That left Lebanon's Wael Sarkis and Benjamin Pollak of the U.K. to battle for the win, and Pollak eventually grabbed all of the chips and the trophy to collect a handsome €118,460 first prize.

The High Roller had just reached a conclusion and the Main Event was down to heads-up when a fast-paced, low buy-in version of Main, the €300 NL Turbo Edition of EPT Main Event (Event #68), found a winner as well.

Danillo Patella of Italy managed to top a 350-player field to win the trophy and €19,850 first prize, outlasting Romania's Adrian Costin Constantin heads-up and Sweden's Peter Eichhardt (third), with Heinz Traut (15th) and Jonathan Spaeren (17th) among the deep runners.

Shortly after John Juanda clinched the Main Event title, it was France's Gregory Torrents winning the quick-finishing €100 NL Hyperturbo (Event #71) and a €5,130 first prize for topping a field of 264.

And about an hour later the very last event to finish, the €2K NL 6-Max. Turbo (Event #70), came to a close in a quiet corner of the poker room. Farid Jattin ended with the title and a €83,290 first prize after outlasting Filippo Lazzaretto heads-up.
