It's a Friday, so you should be cheery. If not, perhaps this news will help a little: PokerStars has just announced the $5,000 Grand Final of this season's Latin American Poker Tour will be held in Argentina!
What better place to wrap up the successful season than in Rosario, the country's third largest city? Not only that, but the September 22-26 event will be staged in the glorious City Center Casino, said to be one of the best on the continent.
"This will be the most luxurious and exciting Grand Final in LAPT history," said LAPT President David Carrion. "The LAPT is thrilled to be partnered with City Center, one of most amazing casino venues in all of Latin America."
City Center, the largest casino in South America, will offer LAPT players all of the comforts of a modern, five-star hotel. City Center is located in the charming metropolis of Rosario, less than 200 miles northwest of Buenos Aires. Rosario is easily accessible by air from all points within Argentina and internationally from Brazil and Uruguay.
More information on the LAPT Argentina Grand Final will be available shortly on the LAPT site together with details about how you can qualify.
There, bet that cheered you up? One person who will be
pleased overjoyed is Argentinian Team PokerStars Pro Jose 'Nacho' Barbero, who is fresh off back-to-back LAPT victories this season. What odds on making it a third for the local Team Pro?
The LAPT today also released the final schedule for the upcoming LAPT Brazil poker festival, to be held from August 4 through 8 at the beautiful Costao de Santinho Resort in Florianopolis. In addition to the $2,700 Main Event, the LAPT Brazil festival will feature multiple side events, notably a $120 rebuy event with a $45,000 guaranteed prize pool and the first ever LAPT Pot-Limit Omaha event.
"We believe that the Brazil festival will draw one of the biggest fields in LAPT history," said Carrion. "We have therefore created a schedule that will cater to the needs and preferences of all players and bankroll levels."
Team PokerStars Pros that have already confirmed their attendance at LAPT Brazil include Victor Ramdin and Joe Cada, the reigning world champion. Play kicks off on August 4 with two $300 super satellites into the Main Event. Side events will run concurrently with the Main Event from August 5 through August 8.
"We are committed to continuing to develop the market and to helping the game grow," said Carrion. "We believe the side-event schedule we have put together - including the first PLO tournament ever held at an LAPT festival - is the next logical step in that direction."
